MACT, the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres, is an organization that provides promotion and support of the theatre community throughout Minnesota. We are a statewide, volunteer run organization which holds meetings, workshops, festivals and other events throughout the state of Minnesota.
MACT’s mission is:
- to promote standards of excellence in theatrical endeavors in Minnesota communities;
- to encourage, channel and facilitate the exchange of ideas among theatres to better foster their growth and improvement; and
- to encourage the theatre arts through educational devices such as workshops, festivals, contests, conferences and other means.
AACT and MACT will be hosting a ZOOM meeting to give you an opportunity to learn more about us and how we can help you thrive. You’ll learn more about our festivals, the services we provide, discounts available to you and your theatre and other benefits of being a member.
Every two years, AACT presents a series of festivals for community theatres. The cycle starts at the state level and culminates with a national festival. MACT*Fest brings together theatres from across Minnesota for a multi-day festival. From this festival two shows will selected to represent Minnesota at the regional festival. At the Region V AACTFest, theatres from the seven-state region will present their shows. At least one show from this festival will advance to the national festival. AACTFest is the national festival, bringing together 12 shows from all around the country for a week of fun, fellowship, education and entertainment.
Minnesota theatres will have a unique opportunity in 2027. Minnesota will be home to all three levels of festivals. MACT*Fest, the state festival, will be held at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids in mid-February. The Region V AACTFest will be in Worthington in early April. The cycle will culminate with the national festival, AACTFest, in June in Rochester.
Join us Tuesday, June 30, from 5 to 6 pm to learn how AACT and MACT can help your theatre thrive.
