The Board of Directors of Lakeshore Players Theatre is thrilled to announce the promotion of Megan K. Pence to Executive Director, effective immediately. Megan has served as the organization’s Managing Director since August 2021, during which time she has been instrumental in transforming Lakeshore Players into a thriving regional performing arts center.

Under Megan’s leadership, Lakeshore Players has achieved remarkable milestones. Most notably, she created and executed comprehensive marketing and development plans that brought the organization from a six-figure deficit to a balanced budget for the first time in seven years—a testament to her strategic vision and unwavering dedication to the theatre’s mission. Her innovative operational processes have expanded Lakeshore’s reach beyond traditional community theatre, establishing robust concert series, educational programs, and community partnerships that enrich the entire region.

“Megan’s passion for the performing arts and her exceptional leadership abilities have been transformative for our organization,” said Terri Dresen, Board President, Lakeshore Players Theatre. “Her ability to navigate challenges while maintaining artistic excellence and fiscal responsibility makes her the ideal choice to lead Lakeshore Players into its next exciting chapter.”

This transition comes as former Executive Director Darby Lunceford wraps up his work with Lakeshore Players where he will continue to support the organization as a consultant. The Board extends its deepest gratitude to Darby for raising the bar not only on the performances at Lakeshore, but for his invaluable contributions to improving daily operations. His legacy will continue to benefit the organization for years to come.

Megan brings extensive experience to her new role, holding an M.F.A. in Directing from Florida State University and having served as the Company Manager and Director of Administration at the Commonweal Theatre for seven years. Her commitment to inclusive, thoughtful arts experiences is reflected in her ongoing training and work as a freelance artist.

“I am honored and humbled by this opportunity,” said Megan. “Lakeshore Players holds a special place in this community, and I’m excited to continue working with our incredible staff, artists, volunteers, and patrons to create meaningful cultural experiences that inspire, challenge, and unite us all.”
